Dying To Self For Someone Else Campaign

Dying to ourselves means that we’re making a conscious decision to put God first, surrender to His will by turning our backs against our flesh, selflessly serve others expecting nothing in return, and ultimately, crucify our old sinful nature to become more like Christ. And this type of crucifixion requires us to pray without ceasing, fast against our comforts, sacrifice our time and resources, give to help others, humble ourselves before God, and praise and worship our Father, expecting to be transformed into holy beings that represent the image of Christ. This lifelong process of being a Jesus that the world can see requires us to make everything that I’ve mentioned a lifestyle, not just an occasional activity we engage in when we want God to answer our prayers. We’ve all fasted and prayed for ourselves, but with this Dying to Self for Someone Else Campaign, I want to challenge you to fast and pray for someone else. Something new, right? Ok, so please stay with me and hear me out.

God placed this idea on my heart last year, and I remember thinking to myself, God, this is GOOOD, lol, as the pitch in my voice changed to intensify my excitement. After saying yes to this assignment, three of my close friends and I started the first Dying to Self for Someone Else Campaign in October 2025 and completed it in January 2026. I’ve prayed many times for my family, friends, and other people in general, but to fast, pray, sacrifice, and do all the things that you would do for yourself for someone else, elevates you to another level of spiritual maturity, humility, and love that honors and glorifies God in a way that showcases who He is in you. God wants us to bear each other's burdens (Galatians 6:2), confess our sins to one another and pray for each other (James 5:16), and think more of others than ourselves (Philippians 2:3). And when we come together like this to pray and agree on earth about a certain matter, God is in our midst. And He answers our prayers, according to Matthew 18:19-20. In addition to that, He not only answers the prayers that we pray for others, but He also restores our losses and gives us twice as much as we had before just like He did for Job when he prayed for his friends (Job 42:10). And all I can say is what a GOD, what a GOD—to be so generous to us on the account of our generosity to others.

Allow me to unpack and break down the details of this campaign so you can understand it more clearly and decide if you want to participate. First things first, you can do this challenge with just one other person because the number of people does not determine the outcome. So, I would suggest partnering with at least one person if this is your first time fasting and praying on behalf of someone else, so that you don’t become overwhelmed. After you have your partner, decide amongst yourselves the month you would like to fast and pray for each other (each person should choose a different month). Once you have determined the order you will follow based on the month you have chosen, then you can exchange the following information on your terms:

  1. Your prayer request
  2. Choose 3 consecutive days in the month you selected, so that you can both fast and pray on those days.
  3. Choose the hours of the day during those 3 days you want to starve your flesh and fast against your comforts (e.g., 3 am-3 pm, 6 am-6 pm, all day, etc.).
  4. What food, drinks, or pleasures (bread, fried foods, sweets, sodas, social media, TV, etc.) are you giving up during those days, if any? Your partner should give them up, too, for those 3 days.
  5. The scripture(s) God leads you to study, so that your partner can study the same scripture(s).

When it’s your partner’s turn, repeat all the above, and please feel free to make the necessary adjustments to the details to accommodate your needs. The important thing is for you and your partner to be on the same page and unified in this partnership of fasting and praying. And as you fast and pray, don’t forget to give because this is the kind of true fasting God wants us to do based on the words He spoke in Isaiah 58:6-7 (NLT).

To brag about our Father and the power behind this campaign, here are some of the testimonies:

November 21, 2025: Thank you again ladies for your prayers. I was filled with an abundance of motivation to finish my book. It's off to the editor. March 1, 2026: Hey ladies, I want to let you all know that my book has been released TODAY! Thanks again for fasting on my behalf for the completion of "Stepping Down". A Christian fiction about stepping away from Greek life. ~Danielle G.

January 2, 2026: Thank you ladies for praying and fasting with me. God has blessed our family with a new church home, my husband's shoulder is healed, and he has received a job offer with better benefits. Above all of those things for the 1st time in his career, the first question in the interview was asking him to pray...you read it right, they asked him to open the interview with prayer. God really does redirect and reposition us for purpose and we truly are grateful. In 77 days we lost everything we thought we needed and God replaced it with everything He knew we needed. I am in awe and extremely grateful. We felt abandoned, overlooked, and forgotten but all along we were exactly where we needed to be. Keep praying Women of God, prayer truly does change things. ALL of the glory belongs to Him! ~Shereka F.

As you can see, God blessed my friend Danielle with an abundance of motivation to complete and publish her novel. And He answered and exceeded my friend Shereka’s prayer requests by blessing her husband with a new job opportunity aligned with his beliefs and better benefits. God also opened her eyes to see that He hadn’t forgotten about her and her family and that He had a better plan for them all along.

I pray that you will challenge yourself to think beyond the me, me, me mentality and step outside your comfort zone to be a part of helping someone else receive their blessing and walk in their calling. This campaign is bigger than us, people of God, because it’s for the glory of God, not human bragging rights. And the pure acts of selflessness, discipline, and intentionality that are woven into this movement can only be experienced, not explained, so are you in? Let me know in the comments if you plan to join this Dying to Self for Someone Else Campaign and who you’re planning to partner with.
