Care for the flock that God has entrusted to you. Watch over it willingly, not grudgingly—not for what you will get out of it, but because you are eager to serve God.
1 Peter 5:2 NLT
Thoughts:
This scripture is directed toward church leaders, and I want to relate it to those in other leadership roles as well. When God places us in leadership roles, it is our duty to care for those we’re leading with a Christ-like mind and demeanor—having those ‘what would Jesus do’ moments along the way, so that we can follow through with His word and His plan. God’s word is not confined to a church building; it should be in us, so that we can share it with the world. And as we work towards completing our God-given assignments, our motivation should be to serve our Creator, not what we gain from what we are called to do.
Today’s Assignment:
Be eager to serve God in the capacity that has been appointed to you by Him. And lead those that God has entrusted you with, with biblical principles, not worldly pressures.
